For bloggers or website owners, we want to ensure we get our articles ranking fast, and also the position we deserve on the search engines.
While using a HTML and XML sitemap will make a huge difference to the speed of your ranking, another technique often overlooked by WordPress users in particular is Ping Services.
What is a Ping Service?
A Ping is an XML-RPC, or eXtensible Markup Language remote procedure call (that’s a mouthful!) is a push-based service which notifies servers when your content has been updated.
Rather than just targeting the popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing, your Ping List can reach hundreds of smaller search engines. Many of these search engines are actually owned by the larger services, so by having your posts listed across more sites gives you greater chance of your content becoming authority content and ranking you higher, and in shorter time.
WordPress makes it super easy to list your posts on Ping Services as the functionality is built into the WordPress already.
All you need to do is add the Ping List.
To do this, go into the backend of your WordPress website and look for Settings > Writing and then scroll down to Update Services. In here you will see where you place your Ping List.

Simply add these into your text area and hit Save Changes, and wait for the magic to begin!
Ensure you go back each year and check your Ping List to ensure you have the latest.
