Hey everyone, welcome back to the Maximum Success Podcast! I’m Chris Bourke, and if you’re here, you’re probably someone who wants to build something meaningful, create success on your own terms, and, most importantly, stand out in this noisy world.
Today, we’re talking about something that has completely changed my life and the lives of so many entrepreneurs, creators, and business owners—building a personal brand. Because let’s be real—if people don’t know who you are, what you do, and why they should listen to you, you’re just another face in the crowd. And in today’s world, blending in is the last thing you want to do.
Now, I know what some of you might be thinking: “Chris, I don’t need a personal brand. I just want to run my business, do my thing, and not worry about putting myself out there.” And I get it. But here’s the deal—people don’t buy products, they buy from people. They follow people they trust, they engage with people they resonate with, and they do business with people they feel connected to. Your personal brand is the difference between being just another option and being the only option in your space.
So where do you start? First, you have to decide what you actually want to be known for. And that’s a question only you can answer. What do you love talking about? What problems do you solve? What unique experience or perspective do you bring to the table? Because if you try to appeal to everyone, you’ll end up reaching no one. You’ve got to own your space. For me, it’s helping people turn their passions into profitable businesses. That’s my thing. That’s what I live and breathe. And you need to find your thing too.
Once you’ve got that, the next step is to show up—and I mean everywhere. Your website, social media, video, podcasts—wherever your audience hangs out, that’s where you need to be. And I don’t mean just posting random stuff whenever you feel like it. I’m talking about being intentional. Every post, every video, every podcast should reinforce who you are, what you stand for, and why people should care.
A big part of this is content. And listen, I know creating content sounds overwhelming, but you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Repurpose what you create. Write a blog post, turn it into a podcast, chop it up into short social media clips. Keep it simple. The most important thing is to be consistent. If you disappear for weeks at a time, people will forget about you. That’s just how it works.
Now let’s talk about money—because what’s the point of building a personal brand if you’re not turning it into something profitable? Once you’ve built trust, monetization becomes easy. Whether it’s coaching, consulting, courses, affiliate marketing, speaking gigs—there are so many ways to turn your brand into a business. But here’s the key: you have to build trust first, monetize second. No one is going to buy from you if they don’t see you as an authority. So focus on providing value before you start selling.
And let me tell you something important—building a personal brand is not an overnight thing. It takes time, effort, and consistency. But if you stick with it, the opportunities that come your way will blow your mind. I’ve had clients, partnerships, and income streams appear just because I showed up consistently and shared what I know. You can do the same.
So here’s what I want you to do. Take a moment today and ask yourself: What do I want to be known for? If you can answer that, you’ve taken the first step. Then, start showing up, start creating content, start engaging with people who need what you have to offer.
